"This year marks a crucial turning point in China's rise as a global leader in science, healthcare, and education. It also celebrates our hospital's 190th anniversary—an important step as we prepare for our 200th year," said Academician Song Erwei. He commended the hospital staff for their dedication, highlighting that since its launch in late December, the outpatient department had treated over 16,000 patients in less than two months, with daily patient visits exceeding 500. “Our future plans include expanding services to the Airport Economic Zone, Greater Bay Area, across China, and Belt and Road partner regions. Through multi-campus development, we will advance China's 'science and technology empowerment' initiative, enhance medical research capabilities, and build a world-class hospital model grounded in Chinese medical expertise," Song added.

The opening of EICU further strengthens the emergency response system, laying a foundation for Huadu Campus to become an international first-class emergency medical center.

Strategically located in the Airport Economic Zone, just a 10-minute drive from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Huadu Campus is Guangzhou's "closest hospital to the world"—echoing the hospital's legacy 190 years ago in Guangzhou, China's first treaty port, where it pioneered Western medicine and education. Future Plans include expanding specialized wards to create a world-class airport medical hub that addresses global healthcare demands, with a focus on developing an internationally recognized emergency care center.

Yang Jianlin, SYSMH Party Committee Secretary, delivered remarks.

Prof. Yu Tao, Director of Emergency Medicine, emphasized Huadu Campus's role as a vital component of the Greater Bay Area's medical landscape and a strategic upgrade in regional critical care capabilities. As a national key clinical specialty, the Emergency Department will build an integrated emergency system featuring "intelligent early warning, rapid response, precise intervention, and continuous monitoring" aimed for a "golden one-hour rescue circle" to safeguard lives during crises. The department will also utilize a centralized monitoring system via 5G internet technology, syncing patient vitals to the hospital's MDT consultation platform and triggering automatic red alerts for critical values.
